On March 21, 2020, the Internal Revenue Service announced that the federal income tax filing due date is automatically extended from April 15, 2020 to July 15, 2020. Taxpayers can also defer income tax payments to July 15, 2020 without penalty or interest. No forms are needed to be filed to qualify for the automatic extension.

On April 9, 2020, the IRS extended additional deadlines, including first and second quarter 2020 estimated tax payments, which are now due July 15, 2020. The entire IRS Notice 2020-23 can be viewed here.
